INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

In the heart of the student life, in The student hotel, where 287 international students are nesting, two former international students went beyond the myths of "The International Student."

We joined the staff, worked as cooks, cleaners, waitresses, receptionists, became part of the life of the students from morning to evening. We tried to integrate ourselves, for days and nights. We played Beer-pong and 'Never have I ever', cleaned their rooms, their toilets, offered candies and intimate talks, we even learned how to carve a pumpkin for halloween, just so we could become part of this life style once again. Unfortunately we are too old…

So we kidnapped an international student...

We were keeping her in the basement.

He accepted to do a practice to forget his identity as an international student.

It is a Japanese practice in which one is wrapped and isolated for few hours to feel closer to his own death.

His life was bad where he was before. His life was typical middle class high school student where he was
before. Her life was chill where she was before. She wasn’t that stressed, because her parents were with her before. Her life was always with friends, happy and with something to do where she was before. Her life was less independent where she was before.

She arrived in 2016. She arrived in 2016. She arrived 29.08.2017. He arrived the first September 2016. He arrived in 2017.

He came with friends. He came with family members. She came with friends. She came with her older brother. She came with her parents.
-------

He took nothing with him. He took computer and clothes. He does not really attach himself to material things. She took her phone. She took her diary and clothes. She left behind memories. She took clothes, laptop. Bags and shoes.

She came with a car. She came with plane. She flew and took a train. He came with car. He came with plane. Train. And bus.

She felt welcomed. She felt partially welcomed. She felt welcomed since the first day. He felt that it could have been worst. He felt welcomed.

She does not remember her first 24 hours. His first 24 hours were fun. She was tired on her first 24 hours. His first 24 hours was stress. Meet people. Drink and party. His first 24 hours were great.

She broke up with a person she loved. She left her family back home. She scarified money. Except leaving his family, he did not make any sacrifice. He could have studied in Milan, Italy.

Freedom is the best thing about his international student experience. Network is the best thing about his
international student experience. A lot of international friends is the best thing about her international student experience. The people she met is the best thing about her international student experience. The horizon of opportunities and open minded people is the best thing about her international student experience.

truth. She has positivity. She is independent.

He became lazy. His routine changed. Wake up, study, sport, chill. She is more mature. She thinks twice
before she does something. She is more free but with more responsibility. Her lifestyle changed.

She thinks nothing about the future of international students in this country. She thinks housing will be too difficult for international students in this country. She thinks the future will be bright for international students in this country. He thinks same as always: best life experience for international students in this country. He thinks the community will grow.
